How to calculate reward offer profit

Calculate the outcome for the route you will actually complete. Maximum advertised rewards, refundable funds, and optional purchases should not be mixed together.

Use achievable rewards

List the milestones you can realistically finish and sum their payouts. Keep optional purchase bonuses separate. If a reward depends on account approval or a specific category, do not count it until you confirm that your route qualifies.

List the costs

Include mandatory purchases, shipping where relevant, account or subscription fees, and any cost of completing a paid task. Do not treat a retained deposit as a lost expense; record it as cash tied up. Consider the value of your time separately.

Stress-test the estimate

Calculate a second result using lower rewards or one extra fee. This reveals whether the opportunity still makes sense if the headline changes. Never use a reward estimate to imply that gambling winnings, investment returns, or tracking approval are assured.

WORKED EXAMPLE

Illustration: $60 reachable rewards minus $20 required spending and $5 fees equals $35 before tax. A returned $100 deposit is a cashflow requirement, not another $100 of profit.

Estimate your cash profit

$30.00Reward minus spending and fees, before tax. Approval is not guaranteed. A refundable deposit ties up money but is not a fee.
